Not everyone has a chance to know the early stage of an artist’s journey because most artists are recognized when their art is mature. On the other hand, there are a significant number of artists in Indonesia who have not received a formal fine arts education yet actively perform in the field.
SPEKTRUM’s mission is to provide college students with an interest in art with an opportunity to exhibit and open their perspective of being an artist by closely working with a curator in a professional setting before they graduate.
As an annual survey with diverse themes, SPEKTRUM 2017 marks its second occasion, presenting various creative approaches by eleven students from six academic institutions in Jakarta, Tangerang and Tasmania. Schools with programs alternative to fine art such as visual communication design, mass communication and digital animation are invited and chosen to participate.
Through the exhibited artworks the audience can view the varied art education landscape of today and also have a chance to see the early works of emerging artists.
